Question from a new member. I just picked up a Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308. I ordered a McMillan A4 stock and Badger Ordnance M5 DBM. (Unfortunately the stock has a lead time of 5 months!). I was told by McMillan that I'll need to have the new stock pillar bedded for the DBM. Is this something I can do or do I need to have a gunsmith do this? They also told me the stock will be fully inletted so is bedding the stock necessary? And if someone can recommend a good gunsmith in Northern California? Thanks in advance. I love this rifle already! I put a Sightron SIII 6-24x50 on it and its a total blast to shoot.

Badger M5's come with their own aluminum pillars in the box, that is why he said it needs bedded. Pillars remove stock flex or compression from overtightening the bolt screws, once the pillars are installed this can't happen. You'll see what I mean when the M5 arrives...

OK cool. I'll start looking for a competent gunsmith now. Its not really a task I'm willing to tackle myself. Once I get the stock and DBM setup, I won't want to change the rifle, so I want it done right the first time. Thanks for the advice.
