Questions on a 338 win mag

Is the 338 win mag any good for long range shooting. Lets say 1000 or so. I don't know much about the 338 win mag other that a great hunting cal. I have a guy that wants to trade me a rem 700 sendaro in 338 win mag for a 1911 that I have.So any info or help from you guys here would be great.
