Re: Questions on fluting
you can't just go add fluting willy nilly as desired. For fluting to be affective in both weight reduction and not adversely affect the accuracy it needs to be done properly.
Consult a gunsmith, not just any but one that specializes in precision rifles.
Worth it? For me, on a factory rifle, probably not.
One thing you can do is to add weight to the gun and carry it around. When you go to hunt, remove it and you'll feel that you have the rifle you want.
One thing I used to do for practice was to get a gallon milk jug and some string. Tie it to the end of the bbl and practice holding the sights in one spot and doing dry fire exercise. As your skills progress add water.
You'll be amazed at how this little practice routine will decrease your group size and help with proper sight picture. And at the end of the day, you won't care about the weight of the gun.
