This is my first post, new to the site.
I'm considering to buy a Savage 110 BA .338 Mag. I have been shooting a Savage Model 110 .30-06 for the last 4 years, really like the accuracy and dependablility. I have never owned a tactical rifle and am wondering if it is worth the money.

Whole list of questions, but a few to start
Dependabililty (Seen alot of post on "Things" coming looses?)
Rifling (Does the 1 in 9" twist make much difference to the 1 in 10" twist recommended for the .338 Lupua Ammunition)

Re: Questions on the Savage 110 BA .338

338 Lapua is a serious round... expensive, harsh to shoot, etc...

the 06 that you've been shooting will push past 1000yds, I wouldn't buy a new rifle, if it were me, I'd rebarrel that 06, add a GOOD stock, maybe a trigger, depending on which one you have, and GOOD glass.

My buddy had a 338 built and hardly shoots it even though we have the space. I think what the op above said would be more practical.

Re: Questions on the Savage 110 BA .338

My .30-06 got a new barrel maybe 75 rounds ago(bought the gun used late 06). Rebuilt trigger but lighter spring. Boyd thumb-hole stock.
I'm not made of money but I would like to learn shoot further. I have shot a buddy's .50 cal lil over 40 times to see how I would take a larger rifle. I have the acres and a more than appropriate back stop that was made for the .50 cal. I already have the equipment to reload my for .30-06 and was intending to reload for the .338 once I acquired enough brass.

as mentioned already (since you are not made of money) save the $ on the 110 BA and buy / reload more .3006 ammo and practice more. the holes will only be .038 smaller at +700 yards.

that'll help you learn to shoot farther.

I have the 110ba in .338 great gun, recoil is not bad at all very close to my .308 without a break much less than the .300 wm I had . Feel free to pm me any questions
