Gunsmithing Quick question on Remington trigger pins...

I recently removed the trigger on my 700 for tuning. When I popped out the trigger pins, I made a mental note that the longer one went in the front (closer to muzzle). But I recently read somewhere that the longer one goes in back.

I am 99% sure I remember it correctly, but no diagram seems to show which goes where.

This is with an X Mark Pro from about 2008, if it makes a difference.

Thanks!

+1, long one in front wouldn't go in all the ways anyway, it would hit the bolt release.

I was doing it in a rush to ship it out, guess I remembered it wrong.

You'll figure it out real fast when you don't have enough pin to hang the bolt realease on. Long in back as the others have said.
