Range Report Quick Velocity Check FGMM out of 20" barrel

Re: Quick Velocity Check FGMM out of 20" barrel

I just shot some of them yesterday out of a DPMS LR-308 with a 20" Fulton Armory Titan barrel. My average velocity across two five round groups fired twenty minutes apart was 2,689fps.

They were too hot for my tastes. I had one blown primer, and every case head had extractor wipe. I had 12 1/2" of drop at 285 yards with a 100 yard zero, FWIW.

Re: Quick Velocity Check FGMM out of 20" barrel

I just ran some FGMM 168's through my new LTR last week and was less than impressed. They were only running 2500 fps out of my new 20" LTR - which I thought was damn poor. That same box (lot) was running 2645 fps in the 24" 5R that I recently sold.

Conversely, I've just finished working up a Scenar 155 load. Best accuracy is with a near-max load of Varget and it's barely running 2800 fps. Disappointing... but it should still do the job.

I think the problem lies with the chronograph. Did more load workup yesterday. New battery and different lighting conditions gave me much more reasonable velocity figures. SMK 175/Varget load was running 2575-2625 fps depending on powder charge, Scenars were running around 2850 fps.

Unfortunately, I shot the last of my FGMM 168's the last time out - so no updated velocities for them. Sorry that I don't have an accurate velocity reading for those... but don't believe the previous 2500 fps readings.
