Well i will start this off. Bullet selection. Why does it only give a hand full of bullets to select from. I see 168 smks but no 175s. What is the best way to go about finding all my questions on Quickload ? Thanks for any info. I am sick as a dog tonight so maybe if I play more with it. I just dont have the patience at the moment.

    Thanks,
    Joe

    Re: Quickload Q&A

On the main tool bar, there should be 2 icons that look like shell casings with binoculars over them. Click on the right icon. That should bring up bullets by caliber type (.308). That should pull up "select a directory or folder". In the file name section, it should list *.bul. That means all bullets in that size caliber. Hit OK. Then in the "Cartridge Dimensions" box all the bullets that can fit in the "Selected Cartridge" selection will show up. It's sorted by weight then manufacturer.

There are well over 100 bullets listed in the 30 caliber section in QL.

    Re: Quickload Q&A

OK guys I appreciate the info. Now I am feeling much better. I had a bit of time to play with the program today. Guys that have used this before with actual chronograph readings. How close to real world are the measurements? I am just starting to play with the program. I bought a F1 chronograph just haven't got to use it yet.I know there are much better options out there. I have a 22 inch barrel .308 Remington 700. Also is there a spot I am missing you can enter barrel twist in?

    Thanks again,
    Joe

    Re: Quickload Q&A

Twist isn't going to count towards the speed.

You can click on the 123 icon and it will tell you what powder will come close to the current powder based on pressure.

Re: Quickload Q&A 375 CT update

Ok everyone that wants the 375 in their list will need to do this.

Start by picking the 408 cheytac then click on the Data: Add, Change, Load, Save. Button. Then Create Case/Caliber file. Save it ass 375 Cheytac or something like that. Should be a .vol file extension. Then go back to that same menu and pick change data records in active file.

Here is the rest of the info you need to change.
    Caliber .375"
    Cross-Sectional Bore Area .109458
    Case cap 168 Grains.

Then add new and it should be good to go.

Re: Quickload Q&A 375 CT update

Maybe we can get this as a sticky for questions as well as data base sharing. (Not software sharing) but the info for the program. Unless we kind of take over the one Frank started on not sharing load data with people that have not bought the software.

    Re: Quickload Q&A

I've done this many times and mine doesnt have 30 cal 175 SMK either. I also cant find 7mm Berger 168s. I've loaded the Berger and Sierra files and all 30 cal and 7mm bullets. These bullets arent there. Whats up?

    Re: Quickload Q&A

Both of those bullets are listed. Albeit there are only about 4 bullets in each of those weight and caliber size.

    .308, 175, Sierra HPBT MatchK 2275

    .284, 168, Berger VLD

    Re: Quickload Q&A

Ok, for the 300 WM, I see different options.
    300 Win. Mag. [N]
300 Win. Mag. [W], etc. does the N and W stand for the brand of brass such as Norma and Winchester?

Also, looking at 300 Win. Mag.[N] with 168 Barnes TTSX with a COL of 3.590" and a 26" barrel, I get 74.5 as the max load (red) with a velocity of 3210 fps. But the Barnes Reloading Manual #4 lists 68.5 gr. as the max load, am I doing this right? Because I need to work up a load for my 300 WM using H4350 and would hate to blow my gun up.

    Re: Quickload Q&A

I hear you if there a quick guide would be great. But I know once I figure it all out I'll be even more pleased. I love being able to match Fps with different powders. I now have great loads for my .308 using R-15,Varget,748 & 760. As long as there is powder available I'll be fine. Thanks again for getting the group buy going.

    Re: Quickload Q&A

I been playing it for a couple of years now and still find new things about the program all the time. I wish I knew how to program a new wildcat into it though. Quick Target is pretty fun to mess around with too.

It's the SAAMI COL, your length will more than likely vary according to the chamber in your gun, but it's a good starting place.

When you play with the seating depth, notice how your pressure changes, it's way cool!

Quickload: Maximum Case Capacity, overflow Grains H2O
    [@] 91.50 -1.3
    [F] 92.00 -1.8
    [N] 95.50 +1.7
    [R] 88.00 -5.8
    [W] 93.8 +0

My measurement of brass weight with primers:
    [F] 256.2
    [R] 245.0
    [W] 246.5

With water to level with mouth:
    [F] 343.9
    [R ]334.4
    [W] 337.7

Difference [brass full of water minus the brass empty weight]:
    [@] na
    [F ]87.7 -3.5
    [N] na
    [R] 89.4 -1.8
    [W] 91.2 +0

Quickload thinks Federal brass holds 1.8 grains less that Win, but I measure 3.5 gr less.
Quickload thinks Remington brass holds 5.8 gr less than Win, but I measure 1.8 gr less.

It is difficult to measure, as the case length, fire formed or not, sized or not, high pressure or not, all affect capacity.

    What does it all mean?
My batches of brass do not match the brand specific capacities in the Quickload library.

    Re: Quickload Q&A

Now there is something else i didnt know. I had no idea you could select different brass. I just measured mine and put in what I had measured. Its going to take fore ever to figure it all out.

There is something called quick design. I got it at the same time. But my post earlier will get you started on your wildcating if you learn to mess with that edit case file feature.
