Quit Tobacco....

Re: Quit Tobacco....

I've been a Copenhagen addict for 25 yrs. Went from snuff to pouches about 5 years ago. Tried quitting many times but it didn't stick. During one of my attempts to quit, I found a mint snuff and mint snuff pouches. These are pure mint leaves and harmless. My big problem is I've had snuff in my mouth so much, I miss having that security blanket and popping it in after eating especially. The mint pouch worked well to fill that void but I'm in love with Copenhagen and need more willpower to quit.
If you go online to the Copenhagen site and sign up for the newsletter, they will send you coupons in the mail. I get 3 coupons a month for $3 off when buying 5 cans. This makes it $3.50 per can or sp here. I use about 1/2 can a day so it's not that expensive.

Re: Quit Tobacco....

I trid quiting a few times (smoking that is) once I went a whole year, but after the first few months my gums started bleeding and didnt stop for a whole year. So I figured I would rather smoke than have bleeding gums. The bleeding stopped 3 days after I started smoking again. Go figure.

Re: Quit Tobacco....

I recently quit chewing after spending a few days in the hospital, I figured since I had some days without it was a good time to quit. It really hasn't been that hard, but man, I still crave it; I chewed for just about 20 years.

I will still have a few cigarettes when I drink, but I've always been able to take 'em or leave 'em. Had a couple of smokes tonight, might have some tomorrow evening, but then again it may be 2-3 weeks before I have another. I only want a smoke when I have a beer. But I know if I took a chew right now, I'd be hooked all over again.

Hang in there and resist the urge to give in, it is definitely worth it.

Re: Quit Tobacco....

Outstanding Olin! If you have made it this far you can quit forever. I had a can a day habit for about ten years before I quit. I cant stand being near the stuff now. Unfortunatly I did not quit soon enough. I am now a stage 4 cancer patient. I've had two major operations and about a years worth of chemotherapy.I know how strong the craveings for tobacco can be but they are NOTHING compaired to how chemotherapy will make you feel. Stick with it Olin.

Re: Quit Tobacco....

I've dipped for about 5 years or so. Grizzly wintergreen is about 2.45 a can. I couldnt imagine doing it at 20$ a can, or even 4$ a can. I go through 2 cans a week usually. I dont see how people can go through 3 packs of cigs a day, it just blows my mind. I plan on quitting when i head off to college.
