Rifle Scopes Range confermation.

How do you guys verify you mil dots.

I just "ranged" something, lets say a person to be at 680 meters on my new Falcon 5.5-25. But Google maps dialed in at about 590 meters. How can I figure out whats right and wrong without a rangefinder.
I know there is a chance I am off at my "Mil dotting" but is there a way to "Calibrate ME"

Set up a 36" reference at <span style="font-style: italic">exactly</span> 100 yards. Measure the distance with a tape - range yardlines and laser rangefinders are not sufficiently accurate.

Once that's done, ensure that 10 mils on your reticle covers <span style="font-style: italic">exactly</span> 36 inches. If your scope is SFP, find the spot on the power ring where that happens, and mark it.
