I was planning on going to the range this weekend, but I got very lucky today and finished work early. I quickly ran home and picked up my gear and hit the road. Since it was my first time firing my rifle i had to get it on target which required wasting a few bullets. I was basically zeroed in after 6 shots. I was so excited to finally use my rifle that I forgot to loosen the set screws on my turrets when adjusting the windage and elevation... Dumb move, i hope i didn't do any damage.

RIFLE: SAKO TRG 22 6.5CM
SCOPE: Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 4.5-27
Range: 100 yards (50 to start and get on paper)
Ammo: Hornady Precision Hunter ELD-X 143 gr. and Hornady Custom Match ELD-M 140gr

I zeroed the rifle with the Precision Hunter ammo so i did not get to shoot as many groups as I did with the Match ammo.

Groups with Hornady Match Ammo (pictures 4-8)

Overall i was extremely happy with the results, considering it was the first time firing the rifle. I am sure with some practice and fine tuning i can do even better with this set up. I am also really impressed by the Hornady ammo I used, i will definitely use it again.

Typical trg. For some reason the trg' s don't get the love they deserve. My trg' shave been more accurate than my AI's with the original factory barrel set up. Once it's changed I don't count it anymore.

Well done. The TRG 22 is my dream rifle.

Hey michiman

Good stuff!
Got a TRG 22 since 2011 and recently installed same scope as you on it, good combo. Mine is in .308 and it shoots lights out for the last 6 years, got to love the barrel life on a 308. Was so impressed that I bought his big brother, the TRG 42 in 338 LM and it shoots just as well! Got one of the first 1/10 twist and it sends the 300 Berger pills real far and right where you want them.
These TRG's are good rifles; the Finns take that accuracy stuff pretty seriously and became damn good at it...for a long time ;)
Anyway, just wanted to say congrats for your new rifle and good shooting!

i dont count factory rifles accuracy after they are sent to a smith (if its a quick change system with prefits thats a different story).
after a action is sent to a smith and they start touching up faces and such it becomes closer to a blueprinted action then a factory action.
and any smith worth their weight using match barrels can make a rifle shoot 3/4" @ 100 yards.
take a crappy poor shooting R700 308, send it to a smith get the face trued and a new barrel is will shoot light out.

Yeah that's what I've heard from most people who own them.

I still think there's some room for improvement. I was shooting of a concrete bench with a Harris bipod that doesn't really fit the rifle. I would like to see the results after adjusting the trigger, switching the bipod and shooting in the prone position.

My TRG-22's factory barrel (308) was very easy to tune up accurate loads. In contrast, my AI's 308 AINA barrel was more finicky; I am just getting a really wide node now using PP-2000-MR after trying several combinations of various components.
