Im in the market for two scopes, one for my SPR, and the other for my .308.

If I had someone spot me, would we need to have the same reticle?

Does it makes sence to have the same brand of scope, same click turrates, same reticle? Or...

I'm a bit confused about how spotters work with shooters.

Re: Ranging with a spotter, and reticle question

Keep everything in Mils or MOA and you will be fine.

example: Spotter looks through his MIL reticle and says your shot is 1 MIL low. Look through your MIL reticle and hold 1 MIL high. Or go to your MIL adjustable elevation knob and dial 1 MIL up.

It can be done other ways, but I like to keep things simple.

Brand, model, click value ect. is not important to match. Just keep everything in Mils and you will thank me later. I only say mils over MOA because if you shoot with anyone else, they will have a Mil based reticle more often than MOA.

Is ranging normaly done with a known size?

Ex: If a man measuring 22" (shoulder to shoulder) was standing at 100m, where would he be in the reticle?

I guess what I am trying to figure out is how to put ranging into practice.

How does everyone else do it?
