Hey all! Just wondering if anyone has had any experience, whether successful or not, with ranging from a bdc reticle. I know the subtensions, and can try to figure it out, BUT it is definitely not like having a hashed out reticle. The subs are in MOA, and are spaced as follows (from top to bottom): crosshair, 1.5, 4.5, 7.5, 11, with none above the crosshair. Any ideas?

Re: Ranging with Viper BDC?

If your BDC is the same as mine it has 4 mils worth of measurement on the horizontal crosshair. With that you can mil most small targets or turn it to half power and double the measurement. Just measure the width of a known size target and plug it into the mil ranging formula.

So the horizontal line is in Mils and the vertical is in Moa???

Re: Ranging with Viper BDC?

Just use any of those subtensions in the mil-ranging formula. Suppose you chose the 4.5 IPHY mark to range a 10" tgt.--

10x100/4.5/1.0 [tgt. gaps at 100% or 1.0 "mil-reading"]=222

now just finish the dope sheet--

1000/4.5/0.9=245
222/.8=275
etc.
It's also good to know that the 1.5 IPHY mark is right at the .3 mil-reading [1.5/4.5=.3]. This helps a bit for interpolating your mil-readings.
