I was at the range today and some people commented that I was going to burn out my barrel because I shot rapidly and never let my gun cool down. When I am at the range I am usually shooting dot drills for time, or doing a timed course of fire, like 5 targets in 45 seconds, or 3 targets in 15 seconds, stuff like that. I also don't really "stop" to let my barrel cool down. I pretty much dial in the dope I want, load up the mags, and get to shooting. I do rest, write stuff down, get a drink, shoot the shit, but not to let my barrel cool down or anything.
So my question is does the rate at which you fire your bolt rifle impact the barrel life? I probably do about 120 rounds in 2-3 hours on average. I have a TRG-22 and was hoping to get about 8,000 rounds through it at a minimum.
