I just re-barreled my 6.5 RPR with a 27" S.S. Bartlein 9 - 8 Gain Twist 6.5cm barrel, chambered and finished by Greg at Southern Precision Rifle. What a work of art. Added a PVA Jet Blast muzzle brake, and looking forward to a range session soon. Very easy install with the right tools. Magpul wrench, Anarchy Outdoors RPR action wrench, go/ nogo gauges, and a good bench vice.......

How much muscle did you need to break the bbl nut loose? I've read that that can be a b**** to get done.

LGS5CM,
I didn't need any muscle. I don't even own a barrel vise. I put the Anarchy Outdoors action wrench in my bench vise slid the action of the RPR onto the action wrench and my Magpul armorer's wrench on the RPR nut and tapped the wrench twice very moderately with a 16oz hammer and the nut loosened. Blunt impact force always wins the day over constant pressure.

I just used a dead blow hammer on the armorer's wrench and with a couple firm taps it came loose. Seems I've heard some really struggling with it.

Good job. It's always my first choice. In stubborn cases, a little heat helps, but not too much to change the molecular composition of the metal. I never ever use steady pressure on a barrel nut......

Just wait until you get to take apart a URX4. One piece FF tube, torque can be nearly double the usual. A motherfucker to pin a gas block on too. But once assembled they're tough to beat.

I can rebarrel a rifle pretty damn quick but doing this one well can take some time.

I started using Loctite 620 though after facing the upper so I doubt I'll be rebarreling shit in the future, new barrel, new upper every time. Guess I better get a few uppers in stock before the communists take over again...
