I've gone out to over 500 yards with it using both match and standard M855 and M193.

just kind of wondering whether to go with short dot or maybe a nf 3.5-15 with a j point piggybacked.

On what kind of rifle and for what purpose? I mean going from a 1.1-4X optic to a 3.5-15X with a J-Point is a helluva swing in size and weight.

really for everything from up close to say about the 500 mark. coyotes. sounds like the short dot would work great, just wondered how well the 4 power did at 500 or so, targets can get pretty small at that range.

Yeah even though there wasn't a lot of magnification it was still manageable to get hits on target at that range. Now granted the targets were steel plates ranging from 12" squares to 15"X25" IPSC's so it's not like the targets were small to begin with.

The NF 2.5-10x24 or 32 would work best. Badger makes a nice 45-degree ring cap mount for a red dot, I think.

Got one with a CQB reticle recently. I have sent about 150 rounds out at 600 and 625 on a 16" 5.56 gun. Works as advertised and is a little easier to fractionalize than an ACOG.

I have smacked coyotes as far as 500-550 yards with mine, but the coyote is getting pretty small and the crosshairs (QCB Reticle) get pretty thick.
As long as you have a decent rest, 500 on a critter is pretty reasonable. And beyond that, my little 55 gn ballistic tips run out of steam pretty fast.

well how about the 2.5-10x32? i had thought about those as well, does the entire crosshair illuminate or just the center? do they come in mil adjustments? how dod they do up close? thanks
