Looking for some guidance. There are 3 of shooting a Tikka TAC A1 in 6.5. All shooting 140 gr eldm. 1 rifle has a heathen break 2nd has Little Bastard and the 3rd runs a omega can. The lab radar has the first 2 at 2600 and the rifle with the can is running 2610. I’ve read Tikka barrels are notoriously slow. Just acquired a 2k box of 147’s eldm. Could someone point me in a good recipe to increase speed for this round. Just bought a turret price, have brass and bullets but need a recommendation on powder and trying to primers.
thanks in advance.

That's a heavy bullet to begin with so it's not going to help you with speed. But if I were you, I would try finding some Reloader 16 or Reloader 26. These powders are going to give you pretty high speeds.

Good luck!

Whats your current powder and recipe? Barrel length?

I get 2800 with 140eldm with 41.3 RL16 or 41.4 of H4350. All out of a 26 inch Bartlein.

Seems a little on the slow side for the 140s, this is my setup with factory 140 eld 24” proof

Tikka lover here. Yes, the barrels are slower, but look at the data. You are losing a few 10th’s of a mil on wind holds, thats it. They’re stupid accurate.

Reloder16 gave me more speed with the 140’s. I was able to push them 2650 out of a 20” factory barrel. I did end up rebarreling it. While I gained more speed (200fps) my wind hold is 2 10ths less at distance.

Reloder 26, between 46.2-47.2 grains.

My load is 47gr with Hornady or Prime brass and Federal 210M primers out of my Tikka T3x TacA1 6.5. Pushes 147's at 2820 or so.
