Hi, somewhat wanting to have a hunting/palma rifle. I currently have this for my setup: a used Remington 700 in 7mm Rem. Mag. that is tapped for irons on the front of the barrel (2 screws), a place in the middle of the barrel (2 screws), you baisic 4 screw Remington 700 scope screws, and then I have 2 screws on the side of the reciver.

I am going to buy a dovetail and some sort of globe for my front end, but can anyobe recommend me a rear (reciver) sight for around $50?

Also, the globe front sights that I am looking at are: a Lyman #93 globe and an OK Webber 22mm globe. Are these any good?

Just starting out with iron sight with centerfire (have shot many times over with an old iron-sighted .22 for practic), so I am not looking for those OK Webber $300 rear sights, just something to get me started.

Thanks,
P.B.Walsh

Thanks for the link, I did not know about the .308 restrictions, but I will not be shooting competitions, just deer.

Could anyobe recommend the sights from the link?

Thanks,

Re: Reciver Iron Sight questions.....

If you are really interested in shooting the 7mmRM to it's potential, it's going to be at long range. Around here they have mid-range (600 yards) and long range (800-900-100 yards) matches, where you shot prone with a sling (using iron sights). Getting a cheap rear sight is not going to help you in any way, only make noise and get you frustrated.

If you are going to build an iron sighted hunting rifle you may be able to get away with a cheaper rear sight. If your going to build a long range target rifle, spend the money and get a good sight http://www.warner-tool.com/sights.htm

Good luck
