I'm thinking of getting a chrono so I can get accurate data on every range trip. Do most connect to a laptop to record while at the range? Or should I get the printer option as well? I want the ability to be able to see/download data without having to make the line go cold to go out to the chrono to see/reset the data for the next string.

I am currently using an OLD Pact unit. I'm looking at getting a new one next spring. Right now I'm leaning toward the new CED unit the does download to the PC.

This old Pact is my 4th chronograph. 2 Shooting Chronys were just a mistake. They couldn't repeat or the only repeated. Don't waste your money.

Research throughly and make your choices wisely. Good luck.

The CED Mellenium II is a great unit and I'm very happy with the consistent results. You can perform various data crunch jobs from the remote LED controller as well, while sitting at the bench. I purchased from Miday about a month ago. The only downside to using it at a busy range is that every stranger wants to test their rifle through it.

The CED M2 looks promising and at $199, seems like a good price. I can't stomach the PVM-08 at $600+.

On a related note: How do you calibrate a chrono or test it to know if its still reading accurately say after several months of use similar to how you calibrate an electronic scale against check weights? Does anything like that exist or do you just have to take it on faith that its still reading accurately?

I just pulled the trigger (sts) on the CED M2 from Midway. I'm looking forward to coninuing my load development efforts and having access to good data at my fingertips will be awesome!

    Thanks for the recommendations!

The PVM is the only one i have ever seen, used or heard of that the user can change the settings on it.

Competition electronics "Pro chrono digital" is what I have been using lately and have had very good luck with. It has read consistently and not missed a fire yet. I had an older PACT model, but I could never get it to work for me.
