Hey guys,
I am in the middle of building a new rifle and have decided to go the 6.5x47 lapua route. I have a Rem700 SA which will reside in an AICS stock. My question is what barrel manufacture do most recommend, length, twist etc.? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Jared

Re: Recommendations for 6.5x47 lapua barrel

I just bought a Bartlein 5R for mine. I went with a 1-8" twist so I'd be good up to the 140 grainers. Go 1-8.5" if you're sure you won't be shooting anything above 130 grains.

I was going to try a 22", but got scared at the last minute and went with a 24". The high BC 6.5s really need the velocity to perform up to their potential.

I built up a 6.5 x 47 L that I use for F-class shooting, it sports a HV profile 1-8" twist Brux and shoots very well. This is my third Brux and I will be buying more.

I would go with a 1-8" twist if you want to shoot long range as I think you get the most out of the 6.5's with heavy bullets. High quality bullets are available in 130's, 140's, 142's and lighter so it is a great caliber.

make sure your reamer is throated to shoot what bullet you want to shoot, my reamer has a freebore of 0.160" for 140's but it shoots 130's very well also.
