I'm looking to get into long range shooting and would like some recommendations for a 'starter' bolt gun/optics package. (Yes, I've already searched a number of threads here and while there's a lot of good information it can tend to be rather conflicting at times.)
I don't shoot competitively, so this rig would primarily be used for informal target shooting as well as dealing with a few pesky long range 'yotes.
This will be a 'learning gun' and while it doesn't need to be bargain basement, I don't want to start out dumping a thick roll of bills on anything until I've gained some experience on what works and doesn't work for me. As far as caliber, I already load for .30-06 and .308, but I'm tempted to try out the .260 Remington.
If anyone knows of any good reference books or online tutorials I would appreciate a point in the right direction. I freely admit that I'm a novice in this area, but I want to be a 'learn to be' and not a 'wannabe.' Thanks in advance.
