It looks like some scientists have brought back the Dire Wolf. This is a long article about a once extinct species but why?

That darn thing is almost as tall as an full grown man! I suppose if it's ever released back into the wild, it will make the timber-wolves piss and whine like a runt puppy.

I'm not a wildlife biologist but if that thing is released it will soon takeover the plains and forests like a plague. When, and if, it's no longer a protected species there will be a new variant to varmint hunting.

Will FoxPro keep up with an ever expanding library of electronic calls for the Dire Wolf? Time will tell.

After you have read the article, you've probably figured out that these pups aren't really Dire Wolves but they are pretty darn big. But why breed them? I can't think of a good reason.

Okay, so it isn't really a Dire wolf but why make the darn thing? Frankenstein and Jurassic Park didn't turn out so well. Also releasing pythons in the Everglades hasn't been a great thing as well.

This guy is sort of geek but makes some excellent points that are tough to argue against.

The Disney twist to the story...

    Again, I ask why?

I literally just found out that this long - standing urban legend was a lie.

You have no idea how it feels :(
There’s a guy who digs up mammoths i think was on Rogans podcast years ago that claims he’s eaten frozen mammoth meat, probably bullshit but I’m not losing sleep either way

    Found it

Have been hearing those stories from old time miners for years. Might be bullshit, might have some percentage of truth. Dunno know. That dudes bone thing is a little true, like most miners and guides, there’s a percentage of truth… He hydro mines in the Fairbanks area, some of what he tells is to throw people off the scent. His claim to mine near the the airport is complete bullshit. I’ve flown over that area since 2011, and absolutely no where near where he says he’s mining is factual, but I do believe he’s finding the shit he says he does. Exactly where is secret. His claims to mining claims, if he actually owns the company he says he does is true, is factual. Verified by a quick search on OnX. Believe what you will, but his bone warehouse exists, a couple of meat eater podcasts with some UAF ( U of Fairbanks) scientists, floating rivers around the northern part of the state, digging up shit. In a roundabout way, corroborate the bones found by the boner or bonemaiter, whatever he calls himself.
The truth is somewhere in between.

Like most everything the government controls, the truth is something else. Just like sea lions and sea otters are endangered…. Those fucks are everywhere up here in AK, fucking up other stuff.

Just like wolves down in the states, there’s a reason why they were rendered almost extinct.

Though, reason at the time was they were screwing with revenue generating fisheries. Which has proven true, ask commercial crab fishermen in southeast AK. Protection of sea otters have decimated that fishery to, pretty much exctintion, hasn’t been a fishery down there in about 15 years. Yet, I see rafts (ie dozens, linked together) of those cute little fucks pounding away at crabs every time I fly SE AK. Paired with seal, they do make the best hats though…. Have to dig mine out from western AK for a pic, can’t wear it above +10F.
