New to reloading. Plinking ammo for AR is the goal. Purchased Redding 223 two die set NOT an S type die set. What I'm confused about is three fold and I really did try to figure this out on my own to no avail...
1. Do I need bushings for the FL die?
2. If not why as the online cutaway diagrams of that FL die and the "S" die look exactly the same to me?
3. If not do I need to do any other neck work to the brass other than trim the length?

Please take pity on the new guy...

Ok same set I use to load for my AR. Just set up as per instructions I'd also recommend using a Redding shellholder (I always use the same brand shellholder as the dies I'm using) & you're GTG, nothing else needed. I've loaded w/o any issues using those exact dies.

I have the same die set for .223. It works pretty well, but sizes the neck way down which causes you to work harder on the upstroke of the press to pull the neck over the expander ball. I bought a carbide expander for the die, and it seemed to help. Make sure you lube the cases properly including the inside of the case neck.
