Hi guys. I am new here and just getting into precision rifles. They are my favorite type of firearms and I have always wanted to get into them since I was little. Anyhow, I just recently finished my new build of one and was looking for advise on if i got the right stuff for what I need it to do.
My goal was to build a 100-300 yard gun that was light weight, simple and low recoil. For my base gun I picked up a .223 R700, 25 inch 1 in 9. Then I restocked it in a AICS 1.5 .223 Chassis and added a Blackhawk tactical bi-pod. Secondly I went with Weaver Tactical 1 inch rings and a Redfield Revolution Accupoint 3-9x50 scope. Threw on a Vortex KillFlash cover and called it done.
The rifle preforms well above my expectations. I am in no way a trained sniper and self taught what little I know. I was getting dime size groups at 100 yards using plain PMC Bronze .223. I did break in the rifle by shot/cleaning the first 15 rounds.
ANYWAYS. Enough of my rambling. My question is mostly about my scope, the Redfield Revolution 3-9x50 Accu-point. Should it be replaced at all for what I need it to do. Like I said, it is going to be a close range urban rifle, not a 750 yard gun. I went with .223 because of ammo commonality with my Arsenal 106FR and my PWS MK116. And I like that it is short action, low recoil, light weight and I can carry tons of ammo with me.
I am certain the scope and rings can handle the recoil of a .223 and the glass is very clear. So I just want the opinions of those a lot more educated than me on if the scope or anything else should be replaced.
Thank you guys for all your help. I'll post pictures this weekend when I get my new camera in.
