My eyes are getting older and I am looking to put a scope on a Marlin 336 in .30-30 that I have and use for a backup to my bolt gun for deer hunting. I have been looking at something in the 2x7x33 catagory since I don't want to hang a large scope on a brush gun. Since this a backup rifle, I don't want to drop a large amount of coin ( < $150) on it. Any of you guys had any experience with the Burris Fullfield II series or the Redfield line now assembled by Leupold ? Both make a 2x7 that would fit the bill if they are decent for the intended purpose.

In the less than $200 category I normally buy Weaver Fixed Powers. Jap made K4 or K6. They do make a 2.5-7 though.

Out of the two you asked about I would probably take the Redfield. I do not care for the power adjust on the Fullfields.

The Bushnell 3200 in 2-7x32 is about $200 and has better glass for my eye than the Burris or Redfield. For about $50 more you can get the nikon monarch 2-8 which has excellent glass for the price point.

I don't think I will be slinging lead at 1K with a .30-30. The 1x4 Loopie does look good. I am leaning towards the Burris at present but the Leupold would fill the bill nicely.
