Suppressors registered pistol lower...

Re: registered pistol lower...

A pistol can become a rifle at any time with no paperwork unless the barrel is less than 16 inches, but once the receiver is SBR there is no going back to pistol.

Re: registered pistol lower...

You don't have to "re-register" anything if your sending in a form 1 to make it a SBR. On the form 1 just put the serial # of the lower in correct box. No difference if marked pistol, a SBR is a whole different breed of cat. Curious who did you have to "register" as a pistol to begin with?

I picked up an AR pistol and the original owner said he registered it and I forgot to ask. The lower is not marked as pistol or caliber.

Re: registered pistol lower...

AFAIK once a gun is a pistol,or Handgun, from a factory,it can be turned into a rifle. But,you cannot turn a Rifle into a Handgun.I'm going through something similar,I want to build a REM 870 into an AOW,as a 10" bbl breecher, but I need to find an 870 that came from the factory w/o a stock, just a pistol grip and be able to prove that.

It might be easier for you unless it is some really special Rec. to just buy a nice one and start from scratch especially when you are dealing with an NFA item.Big enough PIA even when your paperwork is in order and nothing unusual is involved.
