Hey all, I understand this is going out on a limb….

I’ve done a ton of research on reloading, but still need some guidance from someone with experience.

I live in northern NJ (hunterdon). Is anyone is the local area that could give me a 1-2 reloading run down in person? Willing to supply food and beverages. I understand it’s a big ask.

I understand all the concepts but find it easier to learn in person.

Thanks in advance.

This needs to be standard fare in my opinion. I'm nowhere near you but I would welcome this kind of thing. I've mentored a couple of people before. Not that I'm some expert but I was able to get them a good start.

It also helps in regards to equipment decisions as well. 10 minutes in person will answer 900 questions people might have.

I'm in the same-ish boat as the OP: started reloading as the only person I knew that was doing it. The gear I got from a buddy I got because he had a stroke and moved to Fla so no help there.

I've figured most of it out on my own or with questions asked in various places. Most recent 'learning experience' was loading some 77gr bullets too long. Didn't check them before going to the range. That didn't work out too well.

Aah well. Took em home and re-ran them thru the seating die now they're A-OK

Won't do that again

More so hurting my rifle or blowing myself up lol

There’s some decent YouTube videos for loading. Some decent names in the shooting world doing them. Just start reading on here and watching videos and that will be a sufficient start since you don’t have anyone around.

I’ve seen a lot of both and you can get bad info from both as well. So the more sources you seek the better.

One guy who taught me was extremely anal about his loads and taught me a great deal of the basics. So I was lucky.

Another local guy started with telling me he just filled the case on his weatherby with powder til it was full. Wondered why his bolt was sticky when ejecting spent casings. Thankfully I knew enough to not listen to anything he had to say

Your mission is a noble one.

Full disclosure, when I first read your post I was picturing the dude from Silence of the Lambs with the pit in his basement and the lotion in the basket!!!o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

Not your fault, more a statement about the times we live in. We ain't in Kansas anymore Toto!!

As far as your question, start here in the reloading depot!! TONS of great info, pics and video content to get you started!

Beyond that, Eric Cortina, or Ultimate Reloader on you tube. If nothing else, try to figure out who funds Gavin! ( Ultimate Reloader) The guy is set up very nicely and his videos are pretty decent. There is also a guy from Oklahoma who does ( or did) a lot of reloading videos for PRS shooting. It's been a while and I forget his name.
