I just built a custom mosin nagant rebarreled at a .308 with a 7.62x54r chamber and i want to make hand loads for it I have 7.62x54r lapua brass 168 smk's cci br2 primers and I want to know what would be the best powder to use and any other useful information On the subject I also bought some 208 Hornady match if anybody has Experience with those I have a rcbs rock chucker supreme single stage press if that matters

So you've got a 7.62x54r chamber and a .308" bore?

That said, most any powder that works with the .308 will work with x54r. I have used varget, imr 4895, and imr 4064 in my PU sniper with success. I haven't chrono'd any of the loads but I have got pretty good accuracy out of the old girl.

Using a heavy bullet in the 54r, I go with H4350.With a 200gr (198 that I had) found a node right around 50.1, but these were with a larger bore. Of course verify on your own with Hodgdons, they have a starting load of 48 gn of H4350 max 52 gn. (for a 200gn bullet)

For the heavies H4350 will / should give you a bit more velocity with out a substancial increase in pressure.
