I just got done reloading for my first time. What made it nice was that my father in law who is also one of my best friends did it with me. We sat in the garage, listening to Willie Nelson and other great country oldies, and shot the shit while we reloaded. It was great to site with him and talk, but it was also just relaxing to load. Ok, nuff bout the sappy stuff. I am reloading with a RCBS rockchucker supreme single stage press with Competition RCBS dies, an RCBS electronic scale, and a rcbs handpowered trickler. Oh also I am using the 49th ed. of Lyman Reloading which didnt have my powder so I had to go online to Hodgdon.com.I am using 168gr Hornady AMAX with Hodgdon H4895 powder, CCI BR-2 primers, and Hornady brass along with some Winchester supreme brass I previously shot. I loaded 4 different loads after I weighed and separated everything. I loaded 10 with 41.5gr, 10 with 42.0gr, 10 with 42.5gr, and 10 with 43.0gr. I am anxious to shoot this weekend, I will update with pics of target after done shooting. Any comments or questions are welcome.
I almost forgot I am shooting a Rem 700 SPS Tact .308 glass bedded with a Falcon Menace 5.5x25x50 with seekins 20MOA base and med 30mm rings.

Re: Reloading...

Hey thats how i relax at the end of the dayby reloading, especially after fighting the Houston traffic.
Where are you going to shoot this weekend,at a local range or?

Re: Reloading...

I am going to go to a range over here in League City, I've been meaning to go over to bayou range and do there saturday class so I can get a membership. This range only has 100 and 200.

Re: Reloading...

Reloading is something that I really enjoy also. However I would not do it the way you did it.

Another person in the reloading room while I am reloading is a No No for me. Especially another person who wants to talk to me. Sitting in the room and talking is OK, however not while reloading. It is too easy to make a mistake while reloading. And talking while reloading is definitely a distraction.

For me consistency is the key to quality reloads. I use a cadence in everything I do-from actually casting my own bullets to loading my ammunition. This cadence is what makes me more consistent. Talking to another is a disruption. And disruptions in reloading can have deadly consequences. Tom.

Re: Reloading...

When you are actually assembling loads, I prefer to be alone and everything quiet. The concentration drives everything else from my mind.

But to each there own.
