Im looking into a clone build of a m40, i know i dont have a clip sloted reciver, but am having trouble figuring year of manf.ii have one 6 dig. reciver i may use, and also a 7 digit, the 7digit has no letter in front, and the original bbl, does not have any letters to use the bbl code logs. The bbl is stamped, 9xx46, and serial range 67008xx, also the reciver seems to be set up for rear target sights, as it has two srew slots on the left rear of the reciver, whould this have been factory? the gun may have been peiced togeather as the stock is not cut for any rear peep sight, confused lol.

thanks for any help

Re: rem 700 reciver info?

Late 60's or early 70's, a desirable receiver for a build. Doesn't matter which one you choose, both should work out great. And yes it was customary for the receiver to be drilled and tapped on the port side for other sight set ups.
