Gunsmithing Rem 700 - smithing questions

Finally jumped into the bolt rifle thing. Figure it is time to work on something besides gas guns. My first order of business is machining down the bolt handle for a new knob. Then machining a 20 moa base for it.

At the moment I have a couple of questions.

1. What is the average major diameter of custom knobs?
2. What is the average length of custom knobs?
3. Thread specs for the base screws?
4. Thread specs for common muzzle breaks / cans (.308)

It will be a bit before I get the tooling and work holding lined out for the action, so I figure I could start with the above. It is the SPS Tactical in .308 to be specific if the base screws are unique.

Thanks.

Re: Rem 700 - smithing questions

Damn... not enough time in the day. Got my knob finished and my fixture for my bolt. Didn't have enough time to machine down the handle.

The knob came out to 1.5" long and 0.9 diameter.
