Rem 700 SPS tac 20-inch barrel expectations.

Just purchased but have not yet fired my new Rem 700 SPS AAC in .308 with a 20-inch heavy barrel. What can I expect from this factory barrel in terms of accuracy and barrel life?

(It will be mounted on to an AICS 1.5 chassis and topped with a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50.)

Is it worth doing any accurizing to the bolt face, chamber, receiver, etc. without changing the barrel? Just wait until I rebarrel or what?

What are the hot after-market barrels out there today. I put a McGowen on a CZ .223 about two years ago and it is a great shooter. Would kind of like a 20-22 inch barrel ... no more than a 24.

I don't know about barrel life but if I do my part it will print MOA at 1000 yards. With a good load of course.

I must confess I don’t keep a round count log, but my best educated guess would be 1800-2200 rounds at this point. Still going strong and actually seems to be shooting better now than it did a year ago.
