(If this is in the wrong section, feel free to move.)
My name is Fielding, I'm 24. I live in Wyoming and I'm a Detention Officer for the Sheridan County Sheriff Department. I have been hunting and shooting for my entire life, but just this past year have got serious about my long range rifle shooting. I'm still very new to everything, but between lots of late nights on the hide and lots of range time, I'm learning. I'm more interested in tactical long range shooting, than benchrest.
I'm shooting a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in a .308. I have a Nikon Monarch Scope with fine cross hairs and no markings. Shooting Sierra Matchking 168 Grn BTHP (Until I begin reloading). Using info from here and downloaded "Shooter" on my droid. Both have helped me takes leaps and bounds in the process of punching holes.
Today was my first day punching holes with any purpose and recording my observations. Here are some pictures of my targets.
100 yards... (.7'' for both 3 round groups )
200 Yards...(1.7'' 4 round group)
300 Yards...(1.7'' 3 round group...TOP TWO HOLES AND THE ONE DIRECTLY UNDER...FORMING A TRIANGLE...OTHERS WERE FROM LATER)
400 Yards...(1.9'' 3 round group)
400 yards is all the range goes to, so that is were I will start. But, soon I'll be setting up paper at longer ranges to get some more dope.
