Apart from the bolt face, (easily solved with a call to PTG,) is there a difference in Remington 700 actions that would prevent good function with a standard cartridge, say a .270? I hav an unused magnum reciever and would like to build a new hunting rifle. I have heard that some internal feed rail dimensions may be different, but haven't been able to confirm that.
