I've got an XCR II chambered in 300 WSM with the fancy olive drab/rubber inlays. It looks nice and feels good in the hands but other than that, it is a flimsy piece of injected plastic. I've already have dropped a timney trigger in the rifle and I feel replacing the stock would be the next logical upgrade in order to get better accuracy.
I would like to float the barrel because the 300 WSM heats up pretty quickly, even with a relatively slow rate of fire. I'm leaning towards an H.S. Precision but any other suggestions would be appreciated. I'm not sure what stocks will fit the a Rem 700 short action with the standard size barrel.

Macmillan stocks are the best as far as I'm concerned, your gun would look good in their M40A1 stock. Check them out....

I would definetly consider looking at McMillans website. Theye make dozens of diffrent stocks for a Remington 700. I really rep there product because i truely belive there the best and i have many of there stocks on my own rifles. tacticle and hunting. www.mcmillanusa.com

good luck to ya.

I'd look at a HS police stocks and get it bedded if you're on a budget. Take offs can be had for pretty cheap. Obviously you got your McMs/Manners/Chassis systems
