I built a Remington 700 Remage with a Pure Precision recoil lug and I found a interference issue with the lug not allowing the action to sit correctly in the chassis. Here are some photos. Are all lugs 1.802 height ? A factory barreled action fits perfect.

I think standard is 1.705 but I'm not 100% sure. Can you take some material out of the bottom of the lug recess? You might check the bottom corners a lot of them are rounded rather than square and that could be stopping you from dropping all the way down.
Grind it out, bed it to fit.

I am usually inclined to grind on the cheaper part.
It would be best if the lug was cut square. That might be my issue getting it perfect.
Buy a new lug or have someone machine the bottom.
Do not dig out more material from the stock. That's arguably one of the weakest points in a stock and digging out more material in a $800+ stock to save buying a $35 lug is ridiculous.
Everyone wants a thiccc lug but no one wants to admit a factory 700 thickness is fine for everything you'll ever shove in a rem700.

I'd grind off some of the bottom of the lug. The bottom of the lug usually doesn't touch the bottom of the lug area in the stock/chassis so being perfectly true shouldn't be an issue. If you were that worried you could just bed the lug area. I would definitely not be digging into the chassis lug area,
This. Just tape off the bottom of the lug after grinding to create some clearance in the bedding- but I don't think even that would matter. Assuring the back of the lug is square to the receiver face in both axes is all I care about.
