Remington 700 HELP!

I recently purchased a Remington 700 .308cal heavy barrel rifle and on the left side of the barrel there is a total of (10)astericks etched on it.

ex. ***** Remington Arms Company Inc, LLC ***** .308

This is just an example. I can't remember what the text actually says. Do the astericks mean anything or are they simply Remington markings.

If anyone actually has any insight into this question, I would appreciate your help and wealth of knowledge.

Someone told me years ago the number of asterisks had some significance as far as the quality of the barrel but I think that's just a wives tale. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I had heard that at one time Krieger had made some barrels for Remington and this was how you knew (by the astericks). However, in looking at a Krieger barrel, they have 4 grove rifling where Remington has 5 groove rifling. This barrel has 5 grove rifling. Krieger is now offering the true Obermeyer 5-R rifling but I believe it is only on their barrels.
