Gunsmithing Remington 700 - Stiff Bolt Release. Help!

I'm having issues with the bolt release button on Remington 700 SPS-V. I recently reassembled my rifle. It works and is functional, but the release button is stiff. After pressing the button, it doesn't want to "depress." It seems like the bolt stop is in a bind. I've looked at the manual and the pictures above. There is no obvious error. I've oiled everything. Could inserting the bins backwards or from the wrong side cause this problem? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Phat

That'd be my guess too.

Make sure the spring isn't binding either.....or installed backwards/upside down, etc.

had this problem myself... I had to take a little off my trigger pin. Remember better to grind on the 30 cent piece than the $1000 AICS...

Re: Remington 700 - Stiff Bolt Release. Help!

take it out of the stock and see if everything is clearanced properly.

My VSSF had sticky safety and bolt stop and the bolt stop had burrs on it that gouged a furrow in the bolt shroud.

you might have to get out the old dremel and felieve the stock a bit.
