RobertB, I've been shooting long range weapons for over 30 years and I'll say this, I'd have to be shooting a paintball gun to be subsonic at 350 yds. With the 180 grainers I shoot I''m still over 2,100 fps at 500 yards.

1shot2kill, maybe it is the same gun. Did you have it at Scenic? I've been shooting the 180 Sciroccos (my reloads) with great results. The recoil just isn't noticeable as with other lighter 300 RUM's I've shot and it's actually quite comfortable to shoot. Might have something to do with the fact that I'm 5'-11" and 190 lbs. I should also add that this isn't the first 700P I've owned so I'm quite familiar with their capabilities. I hope to get out tomorrow and do some more load testing.

I just got the SS 10x from one of my buddies for $150. I had a chance to shoot it on his previous rifle and I just loved it, plus at $150 at close to new condition I could not pass it up. Nice looking rifle, if it shoots as good as it looks than you have yourself a very fine weapon there.

Re: Remington 700P in 300 RUM........SWEET!!!

dadzic, I'm a BIG fan of the SS line of scopes and you got a Hell of a deal....good for you. My 300RUM shoots beyond my wildest dreams and this rifle has recoil comparible to some of my 308's (quite comfortable). It weighs 12 pounds so that does help.

Do you reload? I do. My reloading consists of the full excercise of measuring, cleaning, neck turning, weighing, annealing etc. but I tell you what, when I get to the range it proves to be worth the time and effort!!

Re: Remington 700P in 300 RUM........SWEET!!!

Actually I'm just getting into precision shooting. I started with a Yugo SKS, a Romak PSL-54 and a M91/30 about 3 years ago. First time out shooting and I knew what my favorite hobby was going to be:) Now that I'm getting better I decided to move onto something that has long range capabilities. I traded the SKS and the PSL-54 and paid $200 extra for a Savage flcp-k (i'm a lefty). This will be my first long range set up, and I just bought the SS for it. The only thing that sucks is that the Savage is still on backorder and I have been waiting for the last 4 months. My next investment will be in reloading equipment. I'm a college student so the funds are tight but I do my best to save up for rifles and shooting equipment. I think that reloading will be great for me. Hopefully I will be able to make great loads for the fraction of the cost of match grade ammo. And tinkering with different loads should get me to the range more often which will hopefully make those groups shrink
