I have a 722 in 257 Roberts that I planning on converting to .308.
What problems should I expect along the way?
Barrel, recoil lug, trigger, bolt, DBM? Will any of these be a problem?
It was a great deer gun back in Texas, but just not enough for elk.

So you are taking a long action and putting a short action round in it? With all the costs involved in rebarreling an action why not start out with a short action 700?

Re: Remington 722 Build

Believe the 722 is a short action, the 721 was the long action (I had one in 30-06). I'm not sure if you will have an issue finding a DBM but the other parts should be the same or similar to a 700. I think the extractor is a hard to find part on the 722 if there is a problem there. The bolt shouldn't need any change from 257 to 308, bolt face is the same IIRC.
