I think it was 1-10. Mine would shoot the 95 and 100 grainers. The 788 is one of the most accurate production rifle ever built. My wifes 243 will 3/8 in groups all day. Make sure the barrel is floated. Hers wasn't and accuracy suffered.

it shows the 700,600 742 all 1-9 twist? but I can't find any for sure info on the 788.

You can probably assume that if it is a 6mm Remington (at least at that time) it would be a 9 inch twist. I have no idea if it has ever been changed from that. If it was marked .244 it would be a 12 inch twist.
