I know there are many good smiths on this site that have much more knowledge than I do. I have a LTR that is loosing its accuracy and got the ok to get it rebarreled rather than replacing it. The 20" barrel is nice but I think a barrel that is a little longer and not fluted would add a little weight helping the gun stay on target for followup shots.

I am looking for some ideas and advised in this undertaking? Thoughts on a little longer barrel, (22" maybe) a different twist ( shooting 155 gr Hornady, switching that ammo to 168 gr) and barrel selection. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Remington LTR rebarrell advise

I would go with something like a 22" 1-10" twist #7 contour and switch to the 175's or develop a bad ass 155 load using either the 155 Lapua Scenar or 155.5 Berger VLD. If you can swing it I would have the action trued up as well.

Re: Remington LTR rebarrell advise

I can't really switch up the ammo I am shooting. I am sure the 175grn would be better. The 155/168 is what I am going to have to work with. Thanks for the imput

Re: Remington LTR rebarrell advise

My gun was originally an LTR. GAP put on a 22" 1:11.25 Bartlein. The barrel is much heavier than the original, It took the Light out of LTR.

I assume the ammo is a work requirement. We shoot the 168 AMAX TAP ammo and no issues with this ammo/barrel combo.
