So Cal
Sold a scope that had rings bedded to it by my builder. Any idea how I remove bedding so I'm not wasting the rings?

No idea what compound was used as bedding.

Hawkins ultralight rings. Pic of bedding attached.

I would first try sharpened popsicle sticks if the material is soft enough.
Sharpen them on one side only like a chisel and they work without scratching things.
Next level up would be sharp plastic scrapers

Bedding scope rings? What will they think of next? I've never heard of anyone bedding scope rings. Is this a thing now or have people always been doing this?

i think it's actually an "older" thing. a lot of people don't do it much anymore because of the improved machining on available rings.

you've just been out of the loop lol

When I bed scope rings I put release agent on both the scope and the rings. I can't imagine a smith did not do this. They ought to pop right out with a brass pick.

Crappy rings need to be lapped straight. Ok rings can be bedded. Precision CNC rings are usually GTG, but some people like to bed them anyway.
