Gunsmithing Replacing a McM Tac 50 bipod with Atlas ??

Mc's 50 weak link is the "modified M-14" bipod, with it's unstoppable left/right flop. It's got to go. Easiest way seems to get {cut} it out of the stock, epoxy up the damage, and re-drill for a new spud. Anyone replaced one of these before??

If you heat the spud, it will soften the epoxy and allow you to remove it without damaging the stock.

It should be a fairly easy job. You plan on putting a rail on it?

Thanks gents. Heat... hum... far better than the Dremel. and re the rail... Maybe.. I've used the AI/Versa and Atlas bipods and prefer the spud to a rail mount, but will go with the Atlas 'cause there's one on the bench right now with no name on it...
