Current issue of Hand loader Magazine included a hand out listing various loads for tactical rifles .It listed 27.5grs of W-W 748 behind a Sierra 65gr GK produced 3,160 FPS out of a Mil Spec AR-15 20" BBL. Can any one confirm this ?That's 200 fps faster then a max load of Varget !

Im fairly new to reloading so forgive me if I stick my foot in my mouth here...but wouldnt that be a pretty compressed load?? I use anywhere from 27-27.5grs of 748 with 40-50gr bullets, I guess it would depend on the length of the bullet and where your able to seat it.

I use 25.5 grs of that powder with a similar bullet. The magazine's load could have been a typographical error. I wouldn't use that load without working up carefully which is always the standard by which we load.
