As per the title, I'm looking for a gunsmith to build left-handed M24'ish rifle for me.

My biggest question is, is if I buy a M24 stock how difficult would it be for a competent gunsmith to convert the stock for a left-handed action (while closing up the RH bolt handle relief cut) and APA bottom metal?

For those of you who do have custom rifles built, how long is the turn-around time when you supply all the parts?

Also, a question about action configuration. Whats the benefits (if any) of having an ejection port opposite of the bolt-handle? i.e. RH Action with a LH ejection port?

Having the ejection port on the opposite side from the bolt is mainly for benchrest, for faster loading, because slow loading can mean wind condition changes. Benchrest shooters like to work the bolt with one hand while loading a round with the other through the ejection port.

Check with Mike Lau, he has been building M40/M24/M21 rifles for years.

Are you using a long action like the M24, or a short action?
Since this isn't going to be a "correct" build, merely an "inspired build" any gunsmith can build it.
HS Precision has several left hand tactical stocks, for example the PST133 is very similar to later variants found on the M24.

Thanks for the information and I'll contact Mr. Lau. I'm going with a short-action Big Horn TL3A. As far as PST133 goes I've considered it before but I really like the look and feel of the M24 stock.
