Does anybody have a recommendation where/how I can research the background of a particular 03A4 rifle? Based off S/N would it be possible to find out where it was sent once it left the factory?

There is really no way. Only a few serials have ever been documented on where they were. We are constantly in the archives looking for new documents. But as of right now, there is no way to really know.
@cplnorton , thanks for the reply. I was hoping that there were records to the effect of "SNs 1xx - 2xx were sent to this unit", etc, but I don't know how U.S. military logistics/procurement worked then or now and it didn't necessarily work that way.
Quick unrelated question: apart from the rifle itself, was there any equipment that was issued particular to U.S. snipers during WW2?
