Found my issue when I got home. The front ring-to-base mounting screw had loosened to the point where it was moving all around.

Replaced rings with 30mm Signature Zee Mediums, used offsets to center scope for windage and add .010" elevation slope.

Took advantage of the moment to adjust the trigger pull lighter, too.

Despite the rifle issue; really enjoyed the company, getting to see the Shumway family again, and that chicken was AOK. Much thanks to the folks who volunteered.
