Rifle Scopes review of the Vortex 1-6 razor

I've got a JP VTAC, that would be the tits. Someone posted a though the scope pic of the dot in daylight, quite visible. And the price leaves a couple of dollars for a mount.

Car insurance, or a new scope?

Car insurance, or a new scope?

What to do...

yes i did, we did a quick 25/300 zero then went to 200 and verified. thus keeping the differences caused by ammo minimized at 100 and 300-600. It worked well enough that i was hitting head and shoulder targets at 500 which is good enough for a 16" gas gun for me. After a month of beating on it, it was still hitting and was still in black at 200. I was impressed to say the least.

Yup an excellent scope. Got one on my Seekins SP3G. I am a staunch 100 yard zero guy for the precision rifles but with this scope and the way the reticle is set up it works perfect with a 200 yard zero. Center crooshair is on at 50/200, 2" high at 100 and on at 300 and 400 with those corresponding hash marks. Haven't gotten it out any farther yet but with the MOA the hash marks are set up for it's basic .223/.308 come ups to 600 yards so it should hit torso targets with either without a problem.

Anyone had the chance to compare it to the SS 1-6? Trying to decide between the vortex and the swfa for my 300blk build. I like the reticle on the swfa better and its nice that its a couple hundred cheaper as well as being slightly lighter.

no but i may be getting a Kahles 1-6 to try out soon, would be interesting to compare with that. I REALLY like the vortex 1-6 and it will continue to get some serious use. will probably do a follow on in another few months after some more abuse.

Just seems like the reticle is really only good for 5.56 and 7.62. I know thats a giant section of the market so its reticle works well, my needs are just a little different. Love my other vortex scopes and am really enjoying rhe 2.5-10x32 ffp.

Got mine this afternoon, will mount it tomorrow, range Sat. morning.

Big Joe was right, it is a really sweet scope. People keep using "sweet", best adjective I can think of.

Initial impressions:

Bright, clear glass.

Red dot very visible even at noon in FL, very bright. I like the illumination set-up. Only one click to turn on dot, you don't have to rotate knob all the way. 1 off 2 off 3 off, 4 off etc. Push in to lock the knob, pull out to adjust intensity.

Build seems good, feels very stout. Time will be the true test.

Made in Japan. That is not a cut down.

I'm fucking thrilled, didn't have to wait 2-9 months for shit, ordered it from Eurooptic Monday, here today.

I'd been sort of on the fence, looking for a scope for my .223s, thanks to Big Joe for the review, and thanks to Boyd at Eurooptic.

I think it will be perfect for a .223 rifle, Rob01 said it "you're not going to be spinning knobs with this type of scope". For my old-assed eyes, this is a way to get close to red dot speed. Eye box is generous.

Pics after mounting/sighting in.

Initial impression is very good. Again, time and a few rounds will tell. Going on a JP-15, Viking Tactics, should be a hot set-up.
