Not wanting to derail another thread so...
I suffered from this for about 5 years, saw 2 specialists underwent all the tests tried shock therapy, you name it. I wont go into all the details, if you have it you know.
My regular Dr. Called one day and said he happened across old study and maybe I should give a try.
Simple 5 mg. AMLODIPINE Once a day
Friggin magic for me. I used to have 4 or 5 attacks per week, I have had 1 in the last 2 years.
I get alot of good info off this site, maybe this will help someone.

Excellent, glad you found a solution. My daughter developed this about a year ago just out of the blue, and her attacks can be very severe. I'll research that med, is it a controlled substance?

Yes, its a very common old school blood pressure med. My prescription cost about a buck a month. The study said it did not work for everone but has been a savior for many like myself. Hope it helps.

regards some alternative therapy .mil Natick came up with to treat Reynauds.

I suffered it from motorcycle riding kind of a vibration induced autoimmune reaction. I guess its also got other physical medical causes.

Was your Dr able to tell the origin of your issues to make the decision meds will help or are the meds just a circulatory enhancer.

Is it blood vessel dialating or some sort of thinner?

    Just curious.

any other concerns, say perhaps your a person in a dangerous place and dont want meds that may impede coagulation etc.

Honestly I was told so many things its hard to recall, but I believe mine was caused by trauma. I have broken 9 of 10 fingers and had minor frostbite numerous times when I was young working on the Bering sea. As far as amlodipine goes I wont attempt at a breakdown of how it works but I'm told it is a basic old med that has largely been replaced by new dope. I have no concerns of use ecept not running out. Lol

A buddy and my sister in law have this. As far as I know, they haven't tried anything. I'm on amlodipine for blood pressure and I haven't had any side effects so I would say its worth trying for the people that have this.

My daughter is on a different BP med that has side effects and doesn't always block the Reynauds attacks. We have been planning to try a different med but I want to try this pavlovian therapy on her.

Amlodipine (brand name is Norvasc) is in a class of medications called calcium channel blockers. It works by dialating various blood vessels. It requires a prescription but is not a controlled substance of any sort.

I am glad to hear you found such a great solution for your situation!

I've been down the long road of hell also known as chronic nerve pain myself .......my goodness........I thought I knew pain from various other experiences in life......broken bones, burns, cuts, severe joint sprains etc.......NONE COMPARE

I can answer any questions about medications anyone may have.
