Rifles with a lower ejection angle

I bought a SWFA 6x42 recently, and to my disappointment my Tikka has been launching brass up against the windage turret. I’m going to find a solution, but it makes me think twice about buying another Tikka if I can’t mount a scope with turrets low.

What rifles eject at a lower angle? How do Bergara, Howa, Remington, etc compare? I’m just thinking about my next purchase.

Most will do that if given the opportunity. If you dont like it add a dual ejector. Or taller rings. Or a scope with smaller windage turrets. Or dont worry about it.

One thing you can look into doing is making a VERY slight modification to the extractor. Filing a tiny bevel on one of the corners can alter the angle that the brass gets tossed out of the action. I did that on a Stiller a few years ago that was doing the same thing, throwing brass into the scope.

I don't recall which part I had to file, it was either the upper or lower corner of the extractor.

Any fat windage turret will see brass in its face.

Is the windage turret capped?

If concerned about the turret itself, perhaps put some electrical tape on it, unless you dial all the time and need the markings to be visible. Like spife7980 said, dual ejection is the usual permanent fix for this issue.

Hmm. I have a Tikka in .204 Ruger with a Cronus 4.5-29 and have not experienced issues with ejected cases hitting the windage knob. That said, the .204 R cases are pretty small, so there's that...

What caliber?

How tall are the rings?

I haven't had an issue with my .223 T3x Varmint, but I'm not cycling the bolt fast either.

As noted the extractor can probably be tuned to change the throw.

30-06, the rings are pretty low. They are Sportsmatch rings, not sure the model number off the top of my head.
